action

Olivia Moore (called Liv), a young doctoral student, is engaged to the social worker major and leads an orderly life until she participates in a boat party that turns into a boat massacre. The next day she wakes up as a zombie and goes through various changes. Her skin turns pale, her hair pale, and she becomes hungry for human brains. If she does not satisfy this hunger or gets into exceptional situations, she gains extreme strength and loses control of her body. Afraid of hurting Major, she breaks her engagement and moves into a shared apartment with her best friend Peyton. In order to be able to feed on brains, she takes a job in forensic medicine. Your boss, Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti, with whom she is on good terms, finds out her secret and tries to develop a cure. By eating the brains, Liv temporarily gains abilities and behaviors of the dead and visions that reveal parts of their lives. She uses this knowledge together with Clive Babineaux, a homicide detective, to fight crime. He thinks she is a medium.

At first Liv assumes she is the only zombie, but over time it turns out that she is not alone. The police lieutenant, Suzuki, is secretly a zombie. Lowell, a musician Liv met during an investigation, is also a zombie. Liv meets him soon afterwards. Another zombie is Blaine, who has a thriving business - an organization that kills homeless youth and sells their brains to other zombies. When Liv finds out that Blaine kills for brains, she and Lowell try to kill Blaine. However, this fails and Lowell dies trying. Some of the homeless youths were cared for by Major as a social worker, who is investigating their disappearance. Peyton starts dating Ravi until she learns Liv is a zombie. Then Peyton goes into hiding. During various investigations, Liv finds out that the energy drink company Max Rager is involved in the boat massacre and possibly in the first outbreak of the zombie virus. A drug in the energy drink caused several violent riots. The company secretly wants to develop the zombie gene into an extreme energy drink without side effects.

Meanwhile, Ravi is making progress in developing the cure for zombies. However, he can only make two doses of the remedy. As Major gets closer to the truth, he begins to doubt his sanity and is admitted to a mental hospital. However, there he finds out the truth about zombies. He fires himself, finds evidence that zombies exist, reports it to Liv and tries to fight zombies. He goes to the headquarters of Blaine's organization, a gourmet shop, and shoots all the zombies present. He is fatally injured by Blaine and learns while dying that Liv is also a zombie. When this arrives, she injures Blaine and gives him one of the cans to heal, so that Blaine has to flee injured. Then she scratches Major and turns him into a zombie, shortly afterwards she gives him the last dose of the cure. When Lieutenant Suzuki arrives at the abandoned crime scene, he leaves a hint on Blaine and blows himself up with the gourmet shop. Liv's brother is seriously injured in this explosion. He now urgently needs a blood donation, Liv has the same blood type, but refuses to donate blood.
