Christopher "Kit" Catesby Harington (born December 26, 1986 in London , England ) is a British actor . He gained international fame through the role of Jon Snow in the fantasy series Game of Thrones .

Life

Harington was born in London and spent the first ten years of his life there. When he was eleven, his family moved to Worcester . After graduating from school, Harington attended college in Worcester, where he studied drama and theater acting. He then attended the Central School of Speech and Drama in his native London, where he graduated in 2008.

He then began his career in the theater and was cast for the lead role in the play War Horse , an adaptation of the novel Companions of Fate by Michael Morpurgo . He played Albert Narracott on several London stages such as the Royal National Theater , the West End and the New London Theater . In 2010 he had a role in the play Posh by Laura Wade, which was performed at the Royal Court Theater .

From 2011 to 2019 Harington appeared in the award-winning fantasy series Game of Thrones as Jon Schnee / Aegon Targaryen (originally Jon Snow ). The filming took him mainly to Iceland , and he practiced for the role in sword fighting . For his performance, he was 2012 for a Saturn Award as Best Supporting Actor in Television (Best Supporting Actor on Television) and together with the ensemble of the series for a Screen Actors Guild Award 2012 nominated. In August 2013 he received the Young Hollywood Award for Actor of the Year .

In 2012, Harington starred again at Sean Bean's side in Silent Hill: Revelation 3D . In 2014 he played the Celtic gladiator Milo in the historical disaster film Pompeii . Carrie-Anne Moss and Kiefer Sutherland , among others, acted at his side .

In the video game Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare , Harington plays the villain Admiral Salen Kotch. In German it has been dubbed lately mainly by Patrick Roche .

Private

Since 2012, Harington has been dating his former serial colleague Rose Leslie , whom he met while filming Game of Thrones, where they also played a couple. In September 2017, the couple announced their engagement through an advertisement in The Times newspaper .

In late May 2018, Leslie and Harington announced their wedding, which took place on June 23, 2018.
