Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is a first-person shooter developed by Infinity Ward and released worldwide by Activision on November 4th, 2016 for Windows , PlayStation 4 and Xbox One . The game represents the thirteenth part of the Call of Duty series.

Gameplay

Like its predecessors, Infinite Warfare is a first-person shooter . One innovation is that the scenario takes place in space . This introduces new game mechanics, such as movement in weightlessness . According to developer Infinity Ward, fighting in space is one of the main parts of the game. The central starting point for the player is the retribution , a carrier ship. From there the player can start the campaign and other missions.

In the multiplayer mode, boosts, wallruns and slides are again integrated in the gameplay. Another innovation is the individual design and adaptation of your own armor. Hundreds of weapon versions are available for this.

Development history

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was officially announced on May 2, 2016 in a livestream. This announcement was preceded by speculation and leaks , so some details were known in advance. The studio worked with military experts to develop the game.

To test the status of the development, the developers organized a test phase from October 14th to October 24th, 2016. However, this was only available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and not for the PC. While the owners of a PlayStation 4 had access during the entire period, the Xbox players could not start until October 21st. Additionally, you had to pre-order Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare to get free access.

In the course of the PlayStation Meeting 2016 in New York it was announced that the PlayStation 4 Pro supports the title and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare can display better graphics.

Zombie mode

Like other offshoots in the series, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare also has a cooperative zombie mode. The first adventure is called Zombies in Spaceland . The player takes on the role of one of four different characters who face waves of undead opponents in a space amusement park. This mode is set in the 1980s.

Together with Infinite Warfare , a revised version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare entitled Modern Warfare Remastered was released on PlayStation 4 , Xbox One and PC, which is only available with the purchase of the Legacy Edition, Digital Legacy Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition and Legacy Pro Edition of Infinite Warfare is available for purchase.
