Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (proper spelling: Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII abbreviated BO4) is a first-person shooter of the US development studio Treyarch , who on October 12, 2018 as the 15th part of the Call of Duty - Series was released. The game is available for PlayStation 4 , Xbox One and Microsoft Windows via Activision's own gaming platform Battle.net . According to Treyarch, this part is the conclusion of the "Black Ops" series.

Game modes

Multiplayer

As in the last Call of Duty parts, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 provides a multiplayer with a match size of up to 12 players. There are a total of 27 weapons in multiplayer, which the player can gradually unlock. There is a wide range of firearms . Classic weapon interpretations such as the KN-57 shown in Black Ops 4 (more modern variant of the AK-47 , AKM , AK-12 ) or the Rampart 17 (more modern variant of the FN SCAR-H ) are also included.

Zombies

The zombie mode included since Call of Duty: World at War is also available again in Black Ops 4 . There are three maps by default . However, you can get a fourth map if you have pre-ordered the “Digital Deluxe Edition” or if you buy the optional season pass .

Voyage of Despair

The first of the three, four cards with the Season Pass, is called Voyage of Despair . It plays on the RMS Titanic in 1912 , just before the First World War . This map takes place in the new Chaos storyline, which also includes four new main characters.

IX

Card IX or Nine (in English: “nine”) contains a gladiator stadium, as the Romans could have built it back then , as a scenery. Still, firearms are still available to the new four characters. However, there are so-called “special weapons” which can be charged “full energy” after a while or by lifting the pickup. There are four of these special weapons in total: the “Chakram of Vengeance”, the “Hammer of Valhalla”, the “Scepter of Ra” and the “Viper and Dragon”.

Blood of the Dead

Blood of the Dead is a remake of the Mob of the Dead map known from Black Ops II , which is set on the prison island of Alcatraz . This map shows the old "Aether" storyline, which has existed since CoD: Black Ops .

Classified

The player only gets this map by purchasing the "Digital Deluxe Edition" or by purchasing the Season Pass. This map is also a remake of the Map Five known from Black Ops . John F. Kennedy , Fidel Castro , Richard Nixon and Robert McNamara were still in Black Ops . However, these were swapped in Black Ops 4 by the characters of the Aether storyline. The Classified map sends the Pentagon chosen as the scenery into the world of zombies.

blackout

The newest game mode in the first person shooter series is called Blackout . The Battle Royale mode includes up to 100 players who simultaneously fight against each other on a server either in solo (limited to 88 players), duo or squad mode (includes 4 players). The first thing you will do is start in a helicopter, from which you can jump out with the action button. The direction of flight of the helicopter is always generated randomly. When you get closer to the ground, a parachute will automatically open. Once on the ground, the player has to find weapons and equipment such as a protective vest, grenades or gadgets such as barbed wire or a sensor arrow. Attachments collected on the ground can be attached to firearms, which improve stability when aiming, for example. The last team or player has won. The card is described by Activision and Treyarch themselves as "the largest card ever built in a Call of Duty".

Single player

There is no traditional single player mode in Black Ops 4 .

criticism

Call of Duty has come under increasing criticism in recent years. It is no different with this offshoot. The promised "recoil patterns" are still not integrated into the game. The game's season pass model is also criticized. So when you buy it you get an additional zombie card, which could have been published that way. Furthermore, the DLCs , which are all included in the Season Pass, will contain four multiplayer and a zombie map , as in previous Call-of-Duty offshoots. Many fans and players find this too expensive for € 14.99 per DLC or € 49.99 for the entire Season Pass. The lack of a campaign mode was also criticized, as this was originally a figurehead of the series.

Loot boxes

Until now, are Lootboxen only in the so-called black market or black market available. You can get them by advancing "Tiers" (similar functionality to leveling ).
