Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a first-person shooter released by Activision on October 25, 2019 . The video game is the 16th part of the Call of Duty series and has been released for Windows and for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 game consoles . In the first three days alone, the first person shooter generated sales of US $ 600 million. This broke a record in Activision's history. The company had never had a more successful launch.

action

The game is not a sequel to the previous parts of the Modern Warfare series, it is rather a reboot with a completely new storyline. Above all, it should be more realistic, harder and extra-authentic, the game draws on current world events. On this occasion, players find themselves in modern environments in which they have to make mainly moral, but also tactical decisions. In contrast to previous titles in the Call-of-Duty series, the focus here is particularly on difficult emotional moments. Often times it's hard to tell whether an NPC is a threat or not. The decision to shoot is mostly left to the player. The decisions are then assessed with a grade from A to F after completing a level. Depending on the rating achieved, you will receive higher rewards.

The background to the plot is a new terrorist group that is perpetrating attacks in Europe and has gained access to chemical weapons. US and British special forces hunt down this group, which they suspect may be Al-Qatala , led by a man alias Wolf . This terrorist operates in the (fictional) country of Urzikstan , where there are also Russian army units and a brutal civil war is raging, which has parallels to the civil war in Syria since 2011 . The best-known actor in the game is the fictional character Captain Price, a member of the English Special Air Service , who already played a leading role in the first three Modern Warfare parts.

Warzone

Call of Duty: Warzone is a free battle royale game and part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and was released on March 10, 2020. Buyers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare can access the Warzone game mode from the main menu. Call of Duty: Warzone can also be downloaded independently as a free game. In the game, you can choose to play alone or with other players against up to 200 players. In contrast to other Battle Royale games, there is no permadeath and the player can be revived by his fellow players or the revival can be earned in a 1-on-1 fight in an arena, the so-called gulag. In addition to the Battle Royale mode, there is also a blood money mode in which players have to try to collect as much money as possible on the map. More modes are under development. In contrast to the Battle Royale mode, a respawn takes place directly after 15 seconds. On the first day the game reached over six million players, after five days 15 million players, after ten days 30 million players and after one month over 50 million players. In late June 2020, Activision announced that more than 75 million players had registered for Call of Duty: Warzone .

development

On May 30, 2019, the first trailer for the game was published and the release date was announced at the same time. Former Respawn Entertainment employees are involved in the development of the game . Joel Emslie is the art director. The game offers both a single player campaign and a multiplayer mode. The multiplayer mode also supports crossplay , which allows PlayStation, Xbox and PC players to play together. For the first time since 2013, the game will not provide a zombie mode; this will be replaced by the well-known co-op Spec-Ops mode from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 .

From August 22nd to August 25th the Call-of-Duty-Modern-Warfare-2v2-Alpha could be played on the Playstation 4. The alpha included the new Gunfight mode, in which you play in pairs against two other players on small maps specially adapted for the mode. At the beginning of the round you get a weapon combination that changes every two rounds. Each weapon combination, a so-called "loadout", contains other weapons as well as primary and secondary grenades (with the option of not receiving grenades or secondary weapons). Another mode called "Gunfight OSP" was added during Alpha. This is similar in content to the Gunfight mode, but you start without a weapon and have to look for weapons and equipment during the round, which are distributed on the map. The aim is to eliminate both opposing opponents. A timer is running. If this has expired, you have a short additional time to eliminate the remaining opponents or to take a flag through spatial proximity that appears after the timer has expired. If both are still unsuccessful, the team that still has the most life points overall wins (200 per team, 100 per player). In Russia, the game was not released for PlayStation 4.
