from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Call of Duty: Mobile is a free-to-play - first-person shooter for Android and iOS which of, TiMi Studios develops and Activision is marketed.

Gameplay

The gameplay is similar to the games from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops series . Well-known weapons, maps , playable characters and game modes have also been adopted. The game is controlled with the touchscreen using virtual buttons on the screen that contain functions for movement and weapon use. This control can be adjusted in the settings. The standard game modes include team deathmatch , search and destroy and a battle royale mode.

In zombie mode, the player must survive against waves of zombies controlled by an artificial intelligence as non-player characters . The principle is similar to a horde shooter : In raid mode, the player must defeat a set number of waves of zombies before he meets a final boss .

There are two in-game currencies in the game as well as a Battle Pass .

On Metacritic , the game received a Metascore of 81 out of 100 points. The reasons for the success include the simple and adaptive control on mobile devices, the fan service for the players in the series in the form of the transfer of known items, cards and game mechanics from other parts and the free-to-play and gaming as a service model. Content can generally be unlocked in the game without in-game purchases or is just visual changes, which does not make the game a pay to win . However, the lack of single player modes and the low graphics quality on weaker phones were criticized . Loot boxes , which are based on gambling , also came under fire .

Download, player and sales figures

In the first month after the release of the game had over 148 million downloads and generated sales of nearly 54 million US dollars . It was the mobile game with the fastest growing number of downloads in history. Since launch, Activision has increased the number of active players from 40 million to 100 million by February 2020. This makes it the most popular game in the series.
