Gunpowder is a British miniseries executive produced by Kit Harington . It is based on the Gunpowder Plot , the plan of Catholics to kill the English king and his government in a bomb attack on the House of Representatives at the beginning of the 17th century. The three-part miniseries premiered on BBC One from October 21 to November 4, 2017 . The German premiere took place on January 15, 2019 on RTL Crime .
