British Independent Film Awards 2002
The fifth presentation of the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) took place on October 30, 2002 at the Pacha nightclub in London (Victoria). This year, for the first time, the Richard Harris Award for outstanding performance as an actor was donated in memory of the namesake who died shortly before.
The Lifetime Achievement Award went to George Harrison for his, in the opinion of the jury, far underestimated influence on the British film industry.
