Timothy Leonard Spall , OBE (born February 27, 1957 in London , England ) is a British actor with character roles in film, television and theater. He played numerous prominent roles in international cinema productions, including Mr. Turner - Masters of Light , Sky Over the Desert , Sweeney Todd , Still Crazy , Rock Star , Last Samurai and the Harry Potter film series .

life and career

Timothy Spall had his first film appearance in 1978 in the television film The Life Story of Baal . In the hit comedy Goodbye, Pet , he gained a high profile in the role of Barry in Great Britain. He also made a name for himself internationally and has played in numerous Hollywood films such as The Wisdom of the Crocodiles , Intimacy and Vanilla Sky since the mid-1990s . One of his best-known roles is that of Peter Pettigrew (called Wormtail) in the Harry Potter films . On December 31, 1999, the British Queen awarded him the title of Officer of the Order of the British Empire .

In the published 2010 film The King's Speech by Tom Hooper , he played the role of Winston Churchill . Spall also appeared in the role of Churchill at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics .

Spall is married and has three children. His youngest son Rafe Spall is also an actor.
