Biographical

A memory of LS Lowry in the place where he died, Mottram

The film follows the early career of the British painter Lawrence Stephen Lowry when he longs for his work to be appreciated in London, while at the same time showing the influence the obsessive relationship between him and his mother had on the great artist. Lowry is famous for his paintings depicting scenes from life in the industrial areas of northern England at the beginning of the 20th century, but he also painted mysterious, deserted landscapes and portraits . In the course of his long life he created over 1,000 paintings and 800 drawings. Most of his paintings represent the city of Salford , where the artist lived and worked for over 30 years. The Lowry Center in Salford, a purpose-built art gallery, therefore houses the largest collection of his paintings. The Tate Gallery in London owns 23 of his works.
