From Time to Time , also known as The Chimneys of Green Knowe , is a film directed by Julian Fellowes and shot in England in 2009. The fantasy adventure is an adaptation of the "Green Knowe" youth book series by the English writer Lucy M. Boston . The series was filmed as a series by the BBC in 1986 . In Germany, the film was marketed on DVD from December 2, 2010 .

The play takes place at the end of the Second World War in England in 1944: 13-year-old Tolly spends Christmas with his grandmother in “Green Knowe” while his mother waits in London for news from his father, who has gone to war as a soldier is. His grandmother Linnet lives in the country estate that has been the family's ancestral home for generations. At night, the ghost of Susan, a relative who lived there more than 100 years ago, appears to Tolly for the first time. In the further course, Tolly experiences the history of the house, partly from the stories of his grandmother, partly from "first hand" during his spontaneous trips into the past.
