Shirley Henderson (2009)

Shirley Henderson (born November 24, 1965 in Kincardine , Scotland ) is a Scottish actress . She is the eldest of three daughters in a working class family. Internationally, she is often associated with the role of the moaning myrtle from the Harry Potter films.

Career

Henderson began her career singing in a few local clubs and was later trained at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama , where she was recommended for a role on the popular BBC series Hamish Macbeth . She also appeared in many productions at the Royal National Theater in London.

She played in the Irish film Intermission (2003), in which Irish greats like Colin Farrell , Colm Meaney and Cillian Murphy appeared in many British TV programs and -Miniserien and embodied in the successful BBC science fiction series Doctor Who role of Ursula Blake in the episode Love & Monsters .

Henderson had her most notable portrayals to date in the miniseries The Way We Live Now (2001) as Marie Melmotte , as Catherine of Braganza in Charles II: The Power and the Passion (2003) and as Charlotte in Dirty Filthy Love (2004).

In 2018 she was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
