Paul Greengrass
Paul Greengrass (born August 13, 1955 in Cheam , London Borough of Sutton , England ) is a British director, screenwriter and novelist.
His best-known works include the films Bloody Sunday , Flight 93 (via United Airlines flight number 93 on September 11th ), Captain Phillips and the second, third and fifth installments in the Bourne series, The Bourne Conspiracy , The Bourne Ultimatum and Jason Bourne .
Career
Greengrass first studied English at the University of Cambridge . In 1978 he began his career as a journalist and director of the BBC program "World in Action". His work at the time included documentaries about the Irish band U2 and about IRA prisoners whom he interviewed during a hunger strike. In 1989 he made his first feature film Resurrected . The film received the Interfilm Prize and the Prize of the OCIC Jury at the Berlinale in 1989 .
Greengrass first appeared as a book author in 1987. Together with Peter Wright, he wrote the non-fiction book "Spycatcher" about the discovery of an espionage affair with the British secret service. In 1988 he published the book "The Enterprise", an espionage thriller.
In 1998, the movie From Flying and Other Dreams was made with Helena Bonham Carter and Kenneth Branagh in the leading roles. In 2000, the award-winning film followed Bloody Sunday , which deals with the events around the so-called " Bloody Sunday deals" on 30 January 1972 in Northern Ireland. With the film adaptation The Bourne Conspiracy , Greengrass also had an international breakthrough in 2004. In 2007 the film The Bourne Ultimatum followed . In 2016 he directed another sequel to the series with Jason Bourne .
His film Flug 93 (released in 2006) was nominated for Best Director at the 2007 Academy Awards on February 25, but did not win. The drama is one of the first Hollywood productions to deal with part of the events of the September 11, 2001 attacks .
On July 22nd, Greengrass filmed the 2011 attacks in Norway .
