Pete Travis

Pete Travis (* in Salford , England ) is a British film director , best known for his political films and for the comic book adaptation Dredd (2012).

Career

Little is known about Travis' beginnings, not even his date of birth is public, but he came to film late and previously worked as a social worker.

After a few short films such as Faith after Nick Hornby about the passion of football fans and series contributions, he created his first major work in 2003 with the two-part TV series Henry VIII with Ray Winstone in the role of the aggressive king, it was very positively received. Omagh about an IRA attack based on a script by Paul Greengrass even received several festival awards in 2004.

His first movie 8 Perspectives with Dennis Quaid about an attack on the US President in Salamanca received poor reviews in 2008, but was successful, in Endgame about the last period of apartheid with Chiwetel Ejiofor as Thabo Mbeki it was the other way around. In 2012, Dredd was a rather unusual pure action film with Karl Urban in the lead role.
