Futuna is a 46 sq km, northeast of Fiji in the South Pacific located island of volcanic origin, the French overseas territory of Wallis and Futuna belongs. Together with the smaller neighboring island of Alofi to the southeast and some offshore reefs, the island forms the archipelago of the Horn Islands .

On the island is the Mont Puke , which reaches a height of 524  m , the highest point in the overseas territory of Wallis and Futuna.

Leava is the capital of the traditional Kingdom of Sigave in the north and west of the island (the south and east and the neighboring island of Alofi are occupied by the Kingdom of Alo ) and the capital of the entire island. The largest place is not Leava, but Ono on the south coast in the Kingdom of Alo with 537 inhabitants (2013). A total of 3612 residents live on Futuna (as of 2013) with a downward trend.
