British Independent Film Awards 1998

The first presentation of the British Independent Film Awards in 1998 took place on October 29, 1998 in the Royal Café in London in front of 400 guests. The event was moderated by Keith Allen .

The most successful film at this award premiere was My Name is Joe by director Ken Loach, with a total of three awards (best film, best director, best screenplay) and two other nominations. Ken Loach was also honored for his life's work.
