The 13th British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) ceremony took place on December 5, 2010 at The Brewery in London. As in previous years , it was hosted by British actor James Nesbitt .

The winner of the evening was the British biopic The King's Speech by director Tom Hooper . Nominated in a total of seven categories, "The King's Speech" won awards for best film, best screenplay (David Seidler), best supporting actress ( Helena Bonham Carter ), best actor ( Colin Firth ) and best supporting actor ( Geoffrey Rush ).

Helena Bonham Carter also received the Richard Harris Award for outstanding performance as an actress.
