Guy Pearce
Guy Edward Pearce (born October 5, 1967 in Ely , Cambridgeshire ) is an Australian - British actor .
life and career
Pearce moved with his parents from England to Australia at the age of three . His father, a New Zealand pilot , was killed in a plane crash when Pearce was eight years old.
He made his first television experience immediately after his graduation in the Australian soap opera Neighbors (Neighbors) . Guy Pearce's breakthrough as a serious actor came with the Australian low-budget production Priscilla - Queen of the Desert (1994). In it he played the drag queen Felicia.
Pearce received a lot of attention for his role in the Hollywood films LA Confidential , in which he played an ambitious police officer, and Memento , in which he portrayed a man suffering from memory loss . In 2002, Pearce starred as the scientist Alexander Hartdegen in the remake The Time Machine based on the novel The Time Machine by HG Wells . In the same year he also played the sly Fernand Mondego in the adventure film Monte Cristo based on the novel The Count of Monte Christo by Alexandre Dumas .
In 2010 he was seen in the Oscar-winning film The King's Speech as the abdicating British King Edward VIII. A year later, the role of Monty Beragon in Todd Haynes ' television production Mildred Pierce , a miniseries based on a novel by James M. Cain , earned him one Emmy one. In 2012 he stood in front of the camera as entrepreneur Peter Weyland in Ridley Scott's science fiction thriller Prometheus - Dark Characters .
Pearce married the psychologist Kate Mestitz in 1997. In October 2015 it was announced that the two had separated in January 2015. He lives in Melbourne , where he also does theater. He has been dating the Dutch actress Carice van Houten since 2015 . Their son was born in August 2016.
