Duncan Kenworthy

Duncan Kenworthy (born September 9, 1949 in Yorkshire , United Kingdom ) is a British film and television producer , who became known through his work for Jim Henson .

biography

Duncan Kenworthy was born in Yorkshire, England in 1949. He grew up in the village of Uppermill on the edge of Saddleworth Moors, where his father owned a cloth factory. Kenworthy's career began with Jim Henson in the 1970s after studying at Cambridge and the University of Pennsylvania . He was u. a. active as executive producer for series such as Sesame Street , The Fraggles and The Storyteller and for films such as The Dark Crystal . From 1988 to 1995 he was Vice President of Jim Henson Productions .

In addition to his work for Henson, Kenworthy has also worked for others. In 1994 he produced the film Four Weddings and a Death , which u. a. was nominated for an Oscar for best film. Together with British film producer Andrew Macdonald , he founded the production company DNA Films in 1997 , which has so far released films such as Love Actually and 28 Days Later .

Kenworthy has worked with screenwriter Richard Curtis on several of his productions, including Four Weddings and a Death and Notting Hill .
