Under the Skin is a British film drama from the year 1997 . It was directed by Carine Adler , who also wrote the script.
action
Rose Kelly is married and pregnant. She has a younger sister, Iris; her father moved to Australia a few years earlier . The mother of the two women dies, which throws them into a crisis. Iris indulges in sexual adventures with the Irish-born Tom, whom she meets in a movie theater. The relationship between the two sisters becomes closer.
Reviews
James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that Morton was making the character played real. Her presence on the screen forces the viewer to accept Iris as a living being.
Cinema magazine wrote that the film was “an intensely played psychogram that has won awards at several festivals”.

In 1997 Carine Adler received the International Critics ' Award ( FIPRESCI Award ) of the Toronto International Film Festival and an award of the Edinburgh International Film Festival . In 1997 she was nominated for the Grand Prix Asturias of the Gijón International Film Festival , at which Samantha Morton was awarded as Best Actress .
Adler and Morton each received a Boston Society of Film Critics Award in 1998 and were both nominated for the British Independent Film Award . Carine Adler received an award from the Seattle International Film Festival in 1998 .
