Elaine Cassidy

Elaine Cassidy (born December 31, 1979 in Raheny near Dublin ) is an Irish actress .

Life and accomplishments

Elaine Cassidy grew up as the youngest of three sisters. She made her debut in one of the leading roles in the short film The Stranger Within Me from 1994. She also played one of the leading roles in the comedy Summer Feelings from 1996.

In the thriller Felicia, mein Engel (1999) she played a pregnant Irish woman who unsuspectingly lives with a serial killer (played by Bob Hoskins ). For this role, she was nominated for the Genie Award and the Golden Satellite Award in 2000. She starred alongside Nicole Kidman and Fionnula Flanagan in the 2001 horror drama The Others (as the mute maid Lydia). For her leading role in the drama Disco Pigs (2001) she was nominated for the British Independent Film Award in 2002 and received the IFTA Award in 2003 . In 2005 she was nominated again for the IFTA Award for her role in the television drama Fingersmith (2005) . She reached a wide audience with the award-winning video for the 2002 single The Scientist by the band Coldplay .

From 2012 to 2013 she played the role of Katherine Glendenning in 16 episodes of the television series The Paradise .

Private life

Cassidy has been married to actor Stephen Lord since December 31, 2007 . You have two children.
