Muggio
Location of the municipality

Breggia is the name of a merged municipality in the Caneggio district in the Mendrisio district of the canton of Ticino in Switzerland that was created in 2009 .

geography

The municipality lies on the banks of the Breggia river of the same name and includes the former municipalities of the Muggiotal . Neighboring communities are Castel San Pietro , Morbio Inferiore , Vacallo as well as Cernobbio , Moltrasio , Carate Urio and Centro Valle Intelvi in Italy.

history

Bruzella was mentioned for the first time in 852 as Brusella , Cabbio in 1188. Caneggio was from 1209 under the name Caneggio known. Morbio Superiore was first mentioned in 1160, Muggio 852 and Sagno from 1296 under the name Sagnio .

Community merger

The merged municipality of Breggia was created on October 25, 2009 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Bruzella , Cabbio , Caneggio , Morbio Superiore , Muggio and Sagno .
