Anzano del Parco is a municipality with 1835 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Italian province of Como in the Lombardy region .

geography

It is located about 35 km north of Milan and about eleven kilometers southeast of Como in the north-western part of the province of Monza and Brianza , in the hill country south of Lake Alserio . The community is part of the Lambro Valley Regional Park.

Anzano del Parco includes the fractions Cavognetto , Cavogno , Lazzaretto , Monticello and Bettolino . Neighboring municipalities are Alserio , Alzate Brianza , Lurago d'Erba , Monguzzo and Orsenigo .

It is part of the Valle del Lambro Regional Park. It is a town on the Como-Bergamo road, just below the Alzate Brianza, about a dozen kilometers from Como. From the historical center on a moraine hill are u. a. the parish church, the Carcano palace and the entrance arch are still preserved.

history

The municipality was inhabited by members of the Golasecca culture in prehistoric times . In Roman times there was a settlement , which is attested among other things by some graves that were discovered in 1878 during excavations on the border with Orsenigo. These were dated to around 300 to 200 BC. Dated.

In the Middle Ages, the place was first mentioned in a document in 920. Anzano belonged to the Counts of Martesana and was fortified with a castle in the 10th century, the tower of which has been preserved.

In the 15th century, Anzano was given to the Dal Verme family as a fief by the Visconti from Milan. Then it came in 1656 to Count Claudio Giussani from Lurago , and in the 17th century to the Carcano family, who had a villa with a park built.

In Anzano there are craft and industrial companies mainly in the fields of clothing, furniture and building materials. In addition, the area is used for agriculture. Some craftsmen still practice the traditional craft of rush weaving.

Culture and sights

  • Villa Carcano - The classicist villa was built between 1795 and 1797 by the Austrian architect Leopold Pollack (1751–1806), who worked in Italy , and is surrounded by a large park in the English style, after which the community is named. There is a small lake inside the park.
  • The parish church of San Michele was consecrated in 1562.
  • The small single-nave church dell'Addolorata was built around 1749.
  • The chapel del Lazzaretto was built in 1575–1576 during a plague epidemic near a hospital.
