The Livo ( Lombard Lif ) is an approximately 14 kilometer long tributary of Lake Como in the Italian province of Como in the north of Lombardy . It flows through the Valle di Darengo and passes through the municipalities of Livo , Vercana and Domaso .
course
The Livo rises at around 1781 m slm at the southern end of the mountain lake Lago di Darengo, which lies below the Pizzo Campanile (also Pizzo Marcello ), near the border with Switzerland . It leaves the lake at Capanna Como and initially flows mostly east-southeast through the largely forested Valle di Darengo, which is characterized by only a few Alps . At the confluence of the short Valle Ledù from the left, the Livo curves to the south, with the valley now becoming deeper. Several short valleys flow into it before turning to the southeast and passing Baggio , which lies above the valley .
Shortly afterwards, the Bares flows from the left , after which the Livo forms the municipal boundary between Livo and Vercana. It now mostly flows to the south-southeast, forming a heavily forested, narrow gorge. He passes the village of Livo, which is situated high above the gorge, before it forms the municipal boundary between Vercana and Domaso. It runs past the village of Vercana and the Gaggio fraction of the municipality of Domaso, before reaching the alluvial cone he created , which protrudes far into the upper Lake Como.
Finally, the Livo flows into the west bank of the upper Lake Como at 197 m slm a little east of the village center of Domaso.
