Kira Linn (* 1993 in Wiesbaden ) is a German jazz musician ( baritone saxophone , bass clarinet , composition ).

Linn, who grew up in Wiesbaden, began playing the tenor saxophone when she was 10 years old . She attended high school on Mosbacher Berg in Wiesbaden and switched to the baritone saxophone in 2008. Already during his school years, she gained big band -Experience in the school band IKS Swing Kids of Immanuel Kant school in Rüsselsheim, but also in the State Youth Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Wolfgang Diefenbach at concerts (u. A. With Dianne Reeves ) and tours to South Africa and New York City.

After graduating from high school in 2012, Linn continued to take lessons with Michael Schlöder and Heinz-Dieter Sauerborn , in order to then complete the "preparatory course for jazz" with André Nendza at the Jazzhausschule in Cologne. From 2013 to 2017 she studied jazz saxophone and education with Klaus Graf , Steffen Schorn and Stefan Karl Schmid at the Nuremberg University of Music . Since 2018 she has been enrolled in the master’s course at the Jazzcampus in Basel with a focus on jazz composition, where she teaches Guillermo Klein , Domenic Landolf and Mark Turner . Since 2018 she has been part of the Federal Jazz Orchestra , with which she also gave concerts in the USA and Israel.

In addition to engagements in small ensembles, she played regularly with the Sunday Night Orchestra and the Swiss Jazz Orchestra , currently with the Pascal Klewer Big Band . Since 2016 she has been leading her sextet ("Linntett"), for which she composes and arranges pieces; With this formation, their debut album Nature was released on Double Moon Records in 2017 . She also plays in the avant-garde pop tentet SiEA, in the Basler Mingus Project and in the Nuremberg quartet TraPho. In 2018 she performed with the Linntett at the Burghausen Jazz Week, the following year with SiEA; with this group she also played at Xjazz and at the Big Harry Festival in Munich .
