Linda-Philomène Tsoungui

Linda-Philomène (Philo) Tsoungui (born October 6, 1992 in Plauen ) is a German drummer , percussionist and producer . She is known as the drummer for Mine , Fatoni and Chefket .

Live and act

The daughter of a Cameroonian and a German opera singer, Tsoungui was born in Plauen and moved to Hof at the age of six , where she later attended the musical Jean-Paul High School. At the music school in Hof, she first took piano lessons, later she switched to drums. She received lessons from Claudio Estay and Johannes Potzel.

From 2011 to 2015 she studied classical percussion at the University of Music and Theater in Munich with Peter Sadlo and Bastian Jütte . During her studies she worked in various ensembles, including a. As a soloist in the Munich Percussion Ensemble , with whom she went on concert tours to Egypt , Azerbaijan and Oman . In 2014 she played in the ensemble of Bernd Alois Zimmermann's performance of The Soldiers at the Bavarian State Opera under Kyrill Petrenko. She also worked with Martin Grubinger , Kent Nagano and Steve Reich . She was a scholarship holder of the Neue Franz Liszt Foundation and the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation LiveMusicNow.

After completing her bachelor's degree, Tsoungui studied jazz drums for two semesters in Munich before starting her master's degree in popular music with a focus on performance artist at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg in 2016 . There she received lessons from Claus Heßler and Udo Dahmen . Her master's thesis was entitled: I am too for you - How the capitalization of femininity constitutes the success of German rappers .

Tsoungui played for numerous bands and artists, including Antonia Derings SiEA, Tiger Tiger, Madanii, Evelinn Trouble, Donskoy, Elif and Seba Kaapstad. She is currently the drummer for Mine , Fatoni , Chefket , Mal Éléve, Moli and LXANDRA.

In August 2017 she toured China and Hong Kong with Hong Kong-based producer and singer Khalil Fong.

Since 2019 she has been the musical director of Fatoni , with whom she will tour Germany in autumn 2019.

Tsoungui lectured for Online Lessons TV and was a member of the jury for the Austrian Drummer Awards in 2018 .

In September 2019 she gave her first clinic at the Dresden Drum and Bass Festival with a focus on electronic production and drumming in a band context.
