Elif Demirezer (born December 12, 1992 in Berlin ), known by her stage name Elif , is a German musician and songwriter with Turkish roots.

Life

Youth and education

Demirezer was born in Berlin as the daughter of Turkish immigrants and has three siblings. Her parents came to Germany in 1985. She grew up in the Berlin district of Moabit and went to the upper level center for communication , information and media technology until mid-2010 . In addition to appearances in the musical and choir group of her school and guitar lessons, she wrote her first songs as a teenager.

Beginning with pop stars

In 2009, at the age of 16, Demirezer applied for the eighth season of the ProSieben casting show Popstars with her own song Du und Ich . She was allowed to skip the recall because Kate Hall presented her with the golden microphone for the best vocal performance in the casting. In the show she appeared together with All American Rejects (The Wind Blows) and Cassandra Steen (Never Knew I Needed) and together with her partner Niklas Dennin took second place in the final.

Solo career

In the following years Elif Demirezer increased her internet presence on Facebook and YouTube , where she presents her own songs, which are mainly in German. On the side she worked as a blogger for the web radio I Love Radio . In November 2011 she performed the song Nothing hurts forever at Ina's night . She became aware of Tim Bendzko in 2011 , who took her on his November tour of German clubs in 2012. In February 2013 Demirezer appeared in the opening act for Ronan Keating's German tour. In March 2013, Universal released their first single Unter meine Haut , which entered the German single charts at number 80 in mid-April. She previously worked on hr3 @ night . In April and May 2013 she appeared in the opening act for Bosse . On April 7, 2013, Elif Demirezer was one of the artists alongside Seeed , Blumio , Glasperlenspiel and Andreas Bourani , who performed at the memorial concert I am Jonny - Voices for our brother for Jonny K. from Berlin who was killed in 2012 in the Admiralspalast .

In early August 2013, the single was released 200 days of summer . The video, which shows Elif together with a tame elephant on the island of Sri Lanka , was directed by Justin Kruse , who has already made music videos with Ivy Quainoo , Max Herre , Max Prosa , Leslie Clio and Joy Denalane . In April 2013, Elif released the song Under My Skin . The track represents their first single chart placement. At the end of August 2013, the debut album of the same name was released, which was produced by Demirezer himself and Philipp Schwär . It reached number 23 on the German album charts. In January 2014 Elif completed her first own tour through clubs in nine German cities. In 2015 Unter mein Haut was remixed by the German DJ duo Gestört aber GeiL together with Koby Funk and Wincent Weiss . The remix rose to number 6 in the German and number 49 in the Austrian single charts. In September 2015, Elif published a cover version of the carousel title Als ich fortge , which was used as the theme song for the three-part ARD documentary Soundtrack Germany . Together with Max Giesinger , Elif recorded the song Ins Blaue , which was published in April 2016 on Giesinger's album Der Junge, der rennt and on the single Ins Blaue .

On June 5, 2016, she took part in the Peace × Peace Festival for the benefit of UNICEF in the Berlin Waldbühne alongside Seeed, Max Herre, Megaloh , Clueso , Cro , Joy Denalane, Namika , MoTrip , Samy Deluxe and numerous other German artists . Here she first presented the title Auf Halber Fahrt , which was released as a single on September 2, 2016. On May 26, 2017 Elif's second album Doppelleben was released , which she first presented on her club tour in February 2017. The album was produced by Tim Uhlenbrock .

In December 2017, Elif took part in the joint Mehr Bewegen project together with numerous other German artists, including Herbert Grönemeyer, Sasha, Wolfgang Niedecken, Balbina, Silbermond and Lukas Rieger , in which the song Happy Xmas (War Is Over) by John Lennon as German cover version was recorded.

2018 joined Elif as a duet partner and backup singer at the MTV Unplugged tour of Peter Maffay on.

In 2019 Elif was a member of the jury at the KiKA composer competition Dein Song .

At the beginning of 2020 she recorded the single Zu Ende with Samra , which reached number 4 in the German single charts.
