Blumio (born February 16, 1985 in Hilden ; real name Fumio Kuniyoshi , Japanese 国 吉 史 生 , Kuniyoshi Fumio ) is a German rapper of Japanese descent.
biography
Blumio was born in Hilden in 1985 and grew up in Düsseldorf , which is the largest Japanese community in Germany . Because his parents initially expected a return to Japan, he started school at the Japanese International School in Düsseldorf , but in the third school year he switched to a German elementary school. At this age he chose soccer and martial arts as his hobbies.
Inspired by the American rapper Ice-T , Blumio began writing his own rap lyrics at the age of 14. Instead of studying for school, he preferred to engage in hip-hop . This resulted in his being seated three times and having to end his high school career. He took the stage name Blumio after a drunk friend said he looked like a flower. In 2002 he applied with a cassette to an MC competition entitled Kiss My Ass . After an internet vote, Blumio won the competition and prevailed against the Berlin rapper Taichi, among others . The music producer Don Tone became aware of him and invited him to his studio in Düsseldorf, where Blumio came into contact with numerous well-known rappers, including Eko Fresh and rappers from Aggro Berlin .
He had his breakthrough in 2005 with the song Meine Favorite Rapper , in which he imitated various German rappers. Only Sido , who played a part in the song, was not imitated by Blumio. In 2007 he took part in the L-Records label sampler L-Boom and the album Psychoterror by rapper Flaze , which were released together as a double album.
In December 2008 Blumio released the album Rush Hour in cooperation with BTM Squad member Habesha . The sound carrier was the first release on Blumio's label Japsensoul . In June 2009 his second long player Yellow Album was released and with it the song Hey Mr. Nazi on it , which is still Blumio's most famous song in German-speaking countries. In September 2010, Blumio's third album Tokio Bordell was released . This resulted in the singles Eberhard and Die Welt ist schwul .
Since the end of 2012, Blumio has been presenting Rap da News! weekly raps in which he critically deals with current topics from politics and world affairs (→ Conscious Rap ). Blumio has been campaigning against nuclear power since the Fukushima nuclear disaster . In 2013, the city of Düsseldorf awarded him its cultural promotion award in the music category.
Blumio lived in the Pempelfort district of Düsseldorf , then he and his girlfriend moved to the neighboring Derendorf district .
Blumio now lives in Japan.
