Josef Reßle

Josef Reßle (* 1986 in Schongau ) is a German jazz musician ( piano , composition ).

Reßle, who grew up in Erbenschwang and attended high school in Schongau, received classical piano training from Katja Brandl during childhood and youth. After graduating from high school, he began studying mathematics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 2005 , but at the same time worked intensively with jazz (under the guidance of Matthias Preißinger). From 2008 to 2013 he studied jazz piano at the University of Music and Theater in Munich with Tizian Jost and Leonid Chizhik .

Reßle founded his own formations, for example a duo with the singer Natalie Elwood, who is also his private partner. With his quintet Quinternion , he released the album All the Way (on Timezone ) in 2015 . He also belongs to the Monika Roscher Big Band, with whom he released two albums. He can also be heard on albums by Florian Brandl , Sarah Mettenleiter and the Bayrisch Jazz Group . In 2016 he was awarded the BMW Welt Young Artist Jazz Award .
