Florian Brandl

Florian Brandl (* 1979 in Munich ) is a German jazz musician ( trumpet , composition ).

Brandl first learned the accordion and piano ; at the age of eleven he finally began to play the trumpet. After graduating from the Pestalozzi-Gymnasium in Munich, he studied jazz trumpet at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich with Claus Reichstaller , where he received his pedagogical diploma in 2004. Since then he has played in various big bands and jazz ensembles; he worked with Sam Rivers , Don Byron , Franco D'Andrea , Thomas Zoller , Roman Schwaller , Johannes Enders , Gary Smulyan , Dusko Goykovich , Gàbor Bolla and Harald Rüschenbaum . He also worked as a musician in theater and musical productions. Between 2016 and 2018 he completed a postgraduate master’s degree at the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden with Malte Burba , Sebastian Studnitzky and Tobias Willner .

Brandl released two albums on Timezone under his own name . He can still be heard on albums by Wincent Weiss and Autozynik.
