Tobias Willner

Tobias Willner (* 1971 in Herzberg (Elster) ) is a German trumpeter .

Life

Tobias Willner comes from Niederlausitz . He received his first trumpet lessons from Walter Wolf at the Herzberg Music School. He studied with Peter-Michael Krämer at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . In 1997 he passed his master class exam .

He was first solo trumpeter with the orchestra of the Halle Opera House for ten years . In 2004 he moved to the same position at the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden . He is also a member of the Dresden Trumpet Consort , with which he has released several CDs.

Willner was a lecturer at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig and the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music Dresden (from 2006). In 2013 he became a professor at the Dresden Music Academy. In 2017 he was a member of the expert jury for awarding the music scholarships of the Hans and Eugenia Jütting Foundation. He was also a juror at the Saxon Lions Music Prize .

Award

In 2002 he received the third prize for modern trumpet at the international trumpet competition of the Handel Festival , the Handel Prize of the City of Halle . The recording of the piano concertos by Shostakovich by Anna Winnizkaja was awarded the 2016 Echo Klassik Award.
