Peter-Michael Krämer (born May 17, 1944 in Kelzow, Pomerania ) was solo trumpeter and professor for trumpet in Leipzig .

Life

Peter-Michael Krämer grew up in Chemnitz and received his first trumpet lessons at the age of 12 from Hans Gützold, solo trumpeter at the municipal theater. In 1958 he was admitted to the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Zwickau, where he also studied with Hans Gützold. He then took further lessons from Arthur Hunger and Wilhelm Simon (solo trumpeter of the Staatskapelle Dresden ). After his military service, Krämer dealt with practice methods and the physiognomy of playing the trumpet as well as with autogenic training and boxing. In 1971 he began to study singing in Leipzig with Professor Peter Russ, which he completed in 1974 with a soloist diploma.

Krämer took up his first position in the orchestra in Chemnitz in 1963, the only vacant position in the GDR at the time. After 3 years he became solo trumpeter in the Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra (today MDR Symphony Orchestra ), where he was active for 27 years. Especially under the direction of chief conductor Herbert Kegel , Krämer developed into one of the leading trumpeters in this orchestra. He also played regularly in other orchestras such as the Staatskapelle Dresden or the Gewandhausorchester zu Leipzig.

After Krämer initially taught children and young people in music associations, he was given a teaching position at the Liszt School of Music in Weimar in 1975 . There he received important pedagogical and methodological impulses through intensive contact with Professor Karl Biehlig . After 10 years he switched to the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig , where he was appointed professor in 1992. In his more than three decades of teaching activity, he published several teaching works, which, like his mouthpiece collection ("PMK" series), were very popular.
