The Robert Schumann Conservatory Zwickau is a musical educational institution named after the Zwickau composer Robert Schumann .

It was founded in April 1947 as the "Robert Schumann Academy - Institute for the Education of the People in Art" and since 1951 has been called the Robert Schumann Conservatory as a music school . In 1963 it was appointed district music school, the lead institute for the music schools in what was then the Karl-Marx-Stadt district .

The city of Zwickau has supported the Conservatory since 1990 . With the financial participation of the city and the Free State of Saxony , the historic building fabric of the facility was completely restored and supplemented by modern functional buildings.
