Martin Ingvarsson

Martin Ingvarsson (born December 9, 1965 in Hässleholm ) is a former Swedish football referee .

Career

Ingvarsson made his debut at the association level in 1984 as a referee. In 1992 he was promoted to second division referee. In the same year he directed his first international matches and was also employed as an assistant referee. Before the first division season in 1993, he moved up to the circle of Allsvenskan referees.

In 1997 Ingvarsson was promoted to FIFA referee. In the following years, he headed international matches as well as matches in the UEFA Champions League , the UEFA Cup and the follow-up Europa League competition. In September 2008 he set a new record when he led his 263rd Allsvenkan game when Kalmar FF and IF Elfsborg met , replacing Leif Sundell as the previous record holder. He led his last game in the Allsvenskan in October 2011, after 339 first division games he then ended his career as a referee. He was then employed by the Skåne regional association and was responsible for questions about refereeing.

When UEFA introduced two additional referees in the Europa League in autumn 2009 , Ingvarsson was the first referee to lead a match of the competition with a team of six with additional assistants Daniel Stålhammar and Michael Lerjéus .
