Sebastian Studnitzky
Sebastian Studnitzky (* 1972 in Neuenbürg , Black Forest ) is a German jazz trumpeter , jazz pianist and composer .

Sebastian Studnitzky is the son of the composer and conductor Norbert Studnitzky . From the age of four he learned to play the piano and from the age of eight he learned to play the trumpet. He studied trumpet and piano in jazz & pop at the Stuttgart State University of Music and then moved to the United States, where he completed a film music / commercial arranging course at Berklee College of Music as a scholarship holder .
Studnitzky initially worked with Markus Kössler as a radio brother . He plays with the jazz musicians Nils Landgren , Wolfgang Haffner and Rebekka Bakken , but also with Mezzoforte , Edo Zanki , Laith al Deen , Jazzanova and the guitarist Dominic Miller . Studnitzky is on tour in various formations with his own works ( triband / band with Sandie Wollasch, Michael Paucker and Tommy Baldu - Studnitzky / Trio, Memento, KY - with Paul Kleber , Tim Sarhan and Laurenz Karsten). Memento presents his classic-jazz crossover project for string quartet / chamber orchestra.
Studnitzky is co-founder and co-owner of the independent label / network CONTEMPLATE and the international booking agency XJAZZ Booking. As artistic director with Xjazz in Berlin since 2014, he has “implemented a completely new concept for a jazz festival”. In 2015 he won the ECHO Jazz in the category "Instrumentalist of the year national brass instruments". Studnitzky is a professor for trumpet at the universities of music in Dresden and Berlin.
Sebastian Studnitzky acted as workshop director for the Xjazz Lab Workshop Camp during the Xjazz Festival 2018 .
