Shin'ya Fukumori

Shinya Fukumori ( Japanese 福 盛 進 也 , Fukumori Shin'ya ; born January 5, 1984 in Osaka , Osaka Prefecture ) is a Japanese jazz musician ( drums , composition)

Fukumori first learned the violin and piano (and played his brother's guitar) before switching to drums at the age of 15. Up to the age of 17 he grew up in Japan with showa pop as well as with western music. After moving to the United States, he attended Brookhaven College and then the University of Texas at Arlington. He finished his percussion studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he graduated with honors. In 2013 he moved to Germany, where he played with Carolyn Breuer ( Shoot the Piano Player! ) And Florian Brandl ( Rejuvenation ) as well as with Barbara Jungfer , with Lee Konitz and in the quartet of Matthias Lindermayr / Matthieu Bordenave (with Florian Weber ). He has toured France, Estonia, Romania, Belgium, Switzerland, Mexico and the USA. He was on a concert tour with Monochrome in Japan in 2016. His own trio (with Walter Lang and Matthieu Bordenave) presented themselves on a tour in Japan in October 2015. He can also be heard on albums with the Beantown Swing Orchestra , with Nilo and with Goro Ito's Land & Quiet .
