Klaus Trump

Klaus Trumpf (* 1940 in Görlitz ) is a German professor for double bass at the University of Music and Theater in Munich .

Before he was appointed to the university, he was solo double bass player at the Berlin State Opera for many years . He also recorded numerous CDs with the double bass as a solo instrument. He also made a name for himself with research on the composer Johann Matthias Sperger , whose catalog raisonné is named Trumpf Directory in his honor . He is the spiritus rector of the Sperger competition, a pure double bass competition. In 2001 he founded the "International Johann Matthias Sperger Society", of which he was president until 2016.

In 1996 he formed the double bass quartet Bassiona Amorosa from female students in his Munich master class , which was awarded the European Quartet Prize in 2003 and has since performed as a double bass ensemble under the same name. The group has made several guest appearances in the USA, Asia and many European countries and was awarded the ECHO-Klassik Prize in 2014 in the category "Classics without borders".
