Schauer took part in a freestyle skiing world cup race for the first time in Kreischberg in January 2006 , which he finished with 51st place in ski cross. At the Junior World Championships in 2006 in Krasnoe Ozero , he won gold in ski cross. Until 2013 he finished in midfield in the World Cup. In January 2013 in Grasgehren he achieved a top ten placement in the World Cup for the first time with ninth place. A month later he took third place in Sochi, his first World Cup podiums. At the following World Championships in 2013 in Voss , he achieved tenth place in ski cross. He finished the 2012/13 season in 11th place in the ski cross classification. Also in the 2013/14 season he reached several places in the top ten. His best result was fourth place in the last race of the season in La Plagne . In his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014, he came in 12th place. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season , he finished sixth in Nakiska . In January 2015 he won his first World Cup in Val Thorens . In the same month he finished 25th at the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2015 on Kreischberg. He finished the season in eighth place in the Ski Cross World Cup.
Personal
Schauer grew up in Lenggries in the immediate vicinity of the Brauneck ski area. After graduating from high school, he joined the armed forces and then decided to train as a pilot. He is currently working at Lufthansa as a passenger aircraft pilot.
