Riedbergpassstrasse and Grasgehren

Grasgehren is located at 1,447 m and is part of the Obermaiselstein municipality in the Swabian district of Oberallgäu in Bavaria .

Use as a ski area

In winter the area is used as a ski and snowboard area. With eleven kilometers of slopes, the Grasgehren ski area is a small ski area. Skiers are transported with five lifts between 1400 and 1700 meters altitude.

Since 2011, the longest ski cross course in the World Cup has been in Grasgehren at 975 meters.

Starting in 2016, considerations to expand the area and to connect it to the neighboring Balderschwang ski area with another lift on the Riedberger Horn led to long-lasting discussions between nature conservationists, politicians and communities. As of April 2018, the project was no longer pursued.
