Career
Quinton Howden began his career in the local ice hockey leagues in the Canadian province of Manitoba before he was selected in 2007 as the overall first in the WHL Bantam Draft by the Moose Jaw Warriors from the Western Hockey League . After he had completed five games for the Warriors at the end of the 2007/08 season , Howden succeeded in the following season as a rookie straight away to become a regular. In 62 games he was able to achieve 30 points and was voted Rookie of the Year for the Moose Jaw Warriors. In the 2009/10 season the striker was able to improve significantly and with 65 points at the end of the season for the first time to reach one point per game. At the same time he was invited to the CHL Top Prospects Game . In the 2010 NHL Entry Draft Howden was finally selected in the first round in 25th place by the Florida Panthers .
Before the start of the 2010-11 season , Howden was named assistant captain of the Warriors. Although he played five fewer games in the regular season, he was able to increase his goal count from 28 to 40 goals and was the top scorer of his team. In addition, he was elected to the Second All-Star Team of the Eastern Conference at the end of the season . Also in the following season he helped the Warriors with 30 goals to get back into the playoffs, where they could advance to the conference finals.
In April 2011, Quinton Howden signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Florida Panthers . For the 2012/13 season he finally moved to the Panthers farm team, the San Antonio Rampage , in the American Hockey League . There he achieved a total of 30 scorer points in 57 appearances in his rookie season. After the start of the season in the National Hockey League was delayed by several months until January 2013, Howden was appointed to the Panthers roster for the first time at the end of the month. There he received his first use in a 7-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers .
After four years in the Panthers organization, his contract was not renewed after the 2015/16 season, so he joined the Winnipeg Jets as a free agent for one year in July 2016 . There he came with the exception of five NHL games but mainly in the farm team, the Manitoba Moose , in the AHL for use. After mid-August 2017 found no new NHL team, he moved to the season 2017/18 for HC Dinamo Minsk in the Kontinental Hockey League .
After two years at Dinamo, he was given to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in exchange for Andrew Calof in August 2019 .
International
On an international level, the Canadian got his first appearance at the U18 Junior World Championship 2010 , where the team was eliminated in the preliminary round. Howden scored four goals in six games and also gave two assists.
For the U20 Junior World Championship 2011 , the striker was called up again in the Canadian U20 national team and won the silver medal with the team. In the following year he was appointed assistant captain of the junior national team and helped his team win the bronze medal at the U20 junior world championship in 2012 with six points.
