Mikhail Grigoryevich Krawez ( Russian Михаил Григорьевич Кравец ; born November 12, 1963 in Leningrad , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and today's coach. During his career he played for SKA Leningrad in the Russian Super League and the San Jose Sharks in the National Hockey League .

Career

As a player

Krawez initially played for six years from 1985 to 1991 in his hometown for SKA Leningrad . During this time he also played six times for the Soviet national team .

After the San Jose Sharks had selected him in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft in the twelfth round in 243rd position, the playmaker dared to move to North America for the 1991/92 season . The Sharks put him in three seasons that he remained there, almost exclusively in the IHL - farm team , the Kansas City Blades , one. With the team he was able to win the Turner Cup in the first season . For San Jose he played only two NHL games during this time. After the 1993/94 season he left the Sharks organization and an odyssey through the North American minor leagues began . He first played in the IHL and AHL , before moving to the East Coast Hockey League in 1996 . There he played for five different clubs until 2000. For the 2000/01 season he moved back to Europe to his hometown club in Saint Petersburg, where he ended his career after eight games in the season.

As a trainer

He began his coaching career at SKA Saint Petersburg, whose second team and junior team (SKA 1946) he was in charge of in 2009. In the 2009/10 season he was assistant coach for the first team of the SKA before he was head coach of the junior team Serebryanych Lvov (Silver Lions) between 2010 and 2011 . He was then head coach at SKA 1946 in the 2011/12 season.

Between May 2012 and 2014 he was Krawez's assistant trainer at SKA Saint Petersburg, after which he was a member of the HK Sochi trainer team until 2017 .

In the 2017/18 season he was the head coach of KRS Heilongjiang from the Wysschaja Hockey League. From October 2018 he was employed in the same position at SKA-Neva Saint Petersburg . Since May 2019 he has been the head coach at HK Witjas from the KHL.
