history
Chleny probably originated in the 13th century; The village was first documented in 1348. In 1384, a permanent church was built in place of a chapel from the time the town was founded. Chleny was originally part of the Litice rule , but then came to Chotzen in 1397 , to Pottenstein from 1411 and to Adlerkosteletz from 1558 . Part of the village of Johanka Sendražická from Chleny was temporarily owned . After 1650 the trail of the Sendražický from Chleny is lost.
In 1755 the Gothic church was rebuilt and in 1795 the bell tower was added. The inhabitants lived from agriculture; Chleny was one of the poorest villages in the country. After the abolition of patrimonial Chleny became an independent municipality in 1848. In 1868 an amateur theater was founded and in 1880 the volunteer fire department. In 1893 the landmark of the place - a more than 500-year-old linden tree on the village pond - had to be felled. In 1910 there were 510 inhabitants in the village, since then the number has been falling.
During the Second World War , Chleny was spared any troops.
In 1960 Vrbice was incorporated, which was reversed after the Velvet Revolution in 1990.
Since 1976 the municipality has hosted an annual volleyball tournament for disabled people, in which the Paralympics teams of the Czech Republic and Slovakia regularly take part. Another highlight is the summer festival with rock concerts, at which the local band 10 Očí also performs successfully.
