history

The village of Sněžný , which belongs to the Frymburg castle lordship , was first mentioned in a document in 1534 when Achilles Anděl von Ronov sold it to Jan Trčka von Lípa . Under the Trčka von Lípa lords, the Frymburg dominion was annexed to the Opočno dominion in the 16th century . In 1597 there were 26 families requiring robots in Sněžný . Until the Battle of White Mountain in a parish consisted Kollatur of Zákraví, followed by Sněžný eingepfarrt to Bystré. After the death of Jan Rudolf Trčka von Lípa , the Opočno domain was confiscated by King Ferdinand II and pledged to the brothers Hieronymus and Rudolf von Colloredo-Waldsee in 1635 . The list of souls from 1651 shows that 25 families and six residents lived in Sněžné. The village had 285 inhabitants, including 119 children; Most of the residents belonged to the Bohemian Brethren Unity . In 1785, a one-class school was set up in a chalet ; before that, lessons took place in Nový Hrádek. In 1789 the Opočno rule fell to the Counts Colloredo- Mannsfeld, who held it until the middle of the 19th century. In 1790 Sněžné was repared to Nový Hrádek. In addition to the less productive agriculture due to the altitude, linen weaving played an important role in Sněžné. In the first half of the 19th century, the prosperous weaving industry led to strong growth in the village.

In 1836 the village of Sneschney , also called Snežney or Sněžney , in the Königgrätzer district , consisted of 88 houses in which 688 people lived. There was a school and a mill in the village. The parish was Neu-Hradek . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village remained subject to the Opočno manor.

After the abolition of patrimonial Sněžné formed from 1849 a municipality in the judicial district of Opočno . From 1868 the community belonged to the Neustadt an der Mettau district . The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1885. In 1890 Sněžné reached the highest population with 735 inhabitants, the village currently consisted of 109 houses. In 1913 the manufacturer Josef Suchánek from Nový Hrádek founded a local Sokol association . The electrification of Sněžné took place in 1928. In 1930, 472 people lived in the 117 houses in the village. During the Sudeten crisis in 1937 the construction of the fortifications of the Czechoslovak Wall began on the Skutina , in the autumn of the same year work began on the underground structures on the Čihadlo. When the mobilization in Czechoslovakia on September 24, 1938, the fortification section was still under construction. After the Munich Agreement , the 100 or so workers who were involved in the construction of the bunkers fled the construction site, as most of the fortifications belonged to the ceded parts of the country. The Czech-speaking village of Sněžné remained with the "remaining Czech Republic" and became a border town until 1945; the north to south-east neighboring towns of Lusche, Gießhübel , Polom, Sattel and Plaßnitz were added to the German district of Grulich .

In 1949 the community was assigned to the Okres Dobruška. In the 1950 census, Sněžné consisted of 116 houses and had 338 inhabitants. In the course of the territorial reform of 1960, the Okres Dobruška was repealed and Sněžné was assigned to the Okres Rychnov nad Kněžnou . In 1961 only 305 people lived in the 96 houses in the village. At the beginning of 1981 it was incorporated into Olešnice v Orlických horách . The parish has existed again since November 24, 1990. The place has retained its character as a mountain village. Today Sněžné is a resort.
