České Meziříčí (formerly Mezřič , German Bohemian Meseritsch ) is a municipality in Okres Rychnov nad Kněžnou in the Czech Republic.

history
The place was created at the end of the 13th century in the middle of the royal forests by Saxon colonists. The first documentary mention took place in 1300 under the name Cungeswald . In connection with the Church of St. Catherine, the Czech name Mezrziecz was first mentioned in 1352 ; further mentions were made in 1356 and 1384. The place gained importance due to its location at a ford over the Goldbach ( Zlatý Potok ), which belonged to an old trade route that led via Dobruška over the then Bohemian Glatzer Land to Silesia .
České Meziříčí belonged to the Opočno domain. In his capacity as church patron, Rudolph Joseph von Colloredo built a new church in the Baroque style on the site of the former wooden church in 1748 . Again, St. Consecrated to Catherine.
