Orlické Záhoří is a municipality in the Okres Rychnov nad Kněžnou in the Czech Republic . It is located twelve kilometers west of Bystrzyca Kłodzka in the valley of the upper Wild Eagles on the border with Poland.

geography

The municipality of Orlické Záhoří is located between the main ridge of the Eagle Mountains and the Habelschwerdter Mountains and extends on the right bank of the Wild Eagle, which forms the border with Poland here. To the northwest rises the Velká Deštná (1115 m), in the west lie the Vřesník (1096 m), Orel (1099 m), Střední vrch (1000 m), Tetřevec (1043 m) and Zaklety (990 m). State road 311 runs through Orlické Záhoří between Mladkov and Deštné v Orlických horách . There is a road border crossing to Mostowice to the Polish voivodship road 389 to Międzylesie .

Neighboring places on the Polish side are Lasówka in the north, Piaskowice and Mostowice in the east, Rudawa in the southeast and in the Czech Republic Nová Ves ( Neudorf ) and Říčky v Orlických horách in the south.

history

Settlement on the upper reaches of the Wild Eagle on the border between Bohemia and the County of Glatz began in the second half of the 16th century.

The first settlement was Kronstadt ( Kunštát ) from 1572 . In 1576 the scattered settlement of Schwarzwasser ( Černá Voda ) followed. Kerndorf ( Jadrná ) was first mentioned in writing in 1603, its colony Grünborn ( Zelenka ) in 1613. The Friedrichswald ( Bedřichovka ) settlement developed around the glassworks founded in Kerndorf in 1614 and initially referred to as the "Kronstadt glassworks" . The higher ground Trtschkadorf ( Trčkov ) was first mentioned in 1654.

After the Second World War, the German residents of the localities of the current municipality of Orlické Záhoří were expelled. Due to the remote border location, most of the houses remained uninhabited, leaving many houses and the villages of Trčkov and Zelenka to decay.

After the amalgamation of the villages, the new municipality was named Orlické Záhoří in 1960 . On August 16, 2005, the Orlické Záhoří - Mostowice border crossing was opened, which is approved for vehicles up to 3.5 t.
