Libel is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers west of Rychnov nad Kněžnou and belongs to the Okres Rychnov nad Kněžnou .

geography

Libel lies on the left side of the Bělá ( Alba ) in the foothills of the Eagle Mountains . The state road 321 between Častolovice and Solnice runs through the village , from which the 320 branches off to Přepychy in Libel .

Neighboring towns are Třebešov in the north, Dobřinov and Lokot in the northeast, Jedlina in the east, Synkov-Slemeno in the southeast, Častolovice and Polní Dvůr in the south, Hřibiny and Malá Ledská in the southwest, Ledská in the west and Lično in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of Lybel comes from 1405. At that time the village belonged to the Častolovice estate . In 1495 Wilhelm II. Von Pernstein acquired the rule and added it to his rule Litice . In 1498 Lybel came to the Potštejn rule . In 1559 the Hendrych von Reger family acquired the village; In 1577 Emperor Rudolf II became the new owner. In the same year he sold the place to Johann, Wilhelm and Georg von Oppersdorff on Dubá and Frydštejn. 1584 struck Friedrich von Oppersdorff Lybel again to the rule Častolovice.

During the Thirty Years War, Libel was attacked and burned on February 12, 1628 by Catholics from Častolovice and Kostelec nad Orlicí . In 1695 Adolf Vratislav von Sternberg acquired the rule. In 1800, school classes began in Libel. In 1813 a flood of the Alba caused severe damage. After the replacement of patrimonial Libel became an independent municipality in 1849. The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1899 . In 1900 Libel had 284 inhabitants; In 1921 there were 286.

In 1976 the village was incorporated into Černíkovice . In 1990 the residents opted for self-employment, which took effect on January 1, 1991. Božena Šedová was elected mayor on November 24, 1990. In 2003 Libel was awarded the “Blue Ribbon” in the “Village of the Year” competition for local social life.
