Doudleby nad Orlicí (German Daudleb an der Adler ) is a place in the district of Rychnov nad Kněžnou in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers south of the district town below the Kastel in the valley of the wild eagles .

history

Daudleb is said to be one of the oldest places in Eastern Bohemia . The place name goes back to the Slavic tribe of the Dudlebi , who are said to have had a princely seat here. The place was first mentioned in 1259 with the mention of an Ulricus de Dudlebi . In the second half of the 14th century, Daudleb was still owned by the Doudlebsky von Doudleb family . Over the next two centuries, the owner of the changed manorial Daudleb which was divided until 1559, often.

In 1562, Nicholas the Elder of Bubna (noble family) acquired the Daudleb lordship at Litice nad Orlicí Castle , from which it was named Lititz ( Mikuláš z Bubna ). He built the Doudleby nad Orlicí castle on the site of a fortress mentioned in 1545 in 1585–1590 , which was initially used as a hunting castle, since the Lords of Bubna resided in Žamberk (Senftenberg) until the beginning of the 19th century .

Since the 17th century there was a Jewish community, whose synagogue, built in 1821, is now used as the New Hussite church .

After the abolition of patrimonial rule and inheritance , Daudleb became an independent municipality in the mid-19th century. In 1890 the place had 1,355 inhabitants, in 1980 there were 2108 inhabitants. Since 2006 the place has the status of a Městys .
