Family coat of arms of those von Buben (Bubna)

The gentlemen of Bubna (also Bubna Dolan , boys, for Dolan , Czech z Bubna , even Bubnové ) was a Bohemian Uradelsgeschlecht . The family regards the Buben castle near Plešnice ( Plesnitz ) in the Okres Plzeň-sever as their ancestral castle.

In 1415 the family split into the two lines

  • "Von Bubna und Lititz" ( Bubnové z Litic ) and
  • "Warlich von Bubna" ( Varlichové z Bubna ).

history

Ruins of Buben Castle

The history of the Bubna family goes back to 1172, when Gumpold von Buben wrote a deed of donation for the grave of St. Wenceslaus was mentioned as a witness. Some researchers suspect that the family of the Bohemian nobility was originally called "Warlych" and only later assumed the predicate "von Bubna" ( e.g. Bubna ).

The family appears in a document in 1394 with the "famosus vir Stacho cliens de Hradeck" ( the famous man Stacho, honorable servant / feudal man of Hradeck ), who was the owner of the Dolany estate not far from Buben Castle . Stach Buben von Dolan held the office of royal burgrave of Neubidschow and Pottenstein . At that time, however, the owner of Buben Castle was Hermann von Girschen and Netschetin ( Heřman z Jeřeně a Nečtin ). Members of the von Bubna family can never be proven to have owned the Buben Castle.

From Bubna and Lititz

Litice Castle

The documented family succession of the Counts of Bubna and Lititz ( Bubna z Liticz ) begins with Nikolaus von Bubna ( Mikuláš z Bubna ) and Otto von Bubna, the grandchildren of Hermann von Bubna (1532–1552). Hermann Varleych von Bubna, lord of Daudleby, Jeleni and Blato in 1573, became captain of the Chrudim district in 1587 with Zacharias Herren Slavata on Chroustovic. According to him, Nicholas Vratislav Varleych inherited from Bubna goods Jeleni, Daudleby and Blato and erected later gräflich Bubna'sche manorial .

In 1562/1563 Nikolaus von Bubna acquired the Litice nad Orlicí Castle from Václav Okrouhlický von Kněnice with the associated lordship. After he also acquired the second half of the town of Žampach (Senftenberg) in 1575 , he was the first to use the title of Bubna and Lititz . Before 1600 he built a Renaissance castle in Senftenberg, which he designated as the seat of the newly formed Senftenberg manor.

The two brothers Heinrich Johann and Kunata Jaroslaw von Bubna and Lititz were raised to the Bohemian baron status on November 8, 1629 and to the Bohemian count status on July 18, 1644. The last owner of Lititz Castle was Franz Adam von Bubna and Lititz ( František Adam z Bubna az Litic ), who sold it to Weriand Alfred zu Windisch-Graetz in 1809 .

Was from Bubna

The family of the Warlich von Bubna ( Varlichové z Bubna ) split into a knightly and a baronial line. On July 1, 1860, KK Major General Franz Warlich von Bubna was raised to the status of Austrian baron.
