Neighboring towns are Malá Zdobnice, Kamenec and Čertův Důl in the north, Orlické Záhoří in the east, Rysé and Říčky v Orlických horách in the southeast, Pustiny and Souvlastní in the south, Rampuše in the southwest, Kunčina Ves and Kačerov in the west and Polanka and Zdobnická in the north-west.

history

The valley was settled at the beginning of the 16th century by miners and lumberjacks, who cut wood in the forests for rafting to Kuttenberg . Stobnitz was first mentioned in a document in 1550. In 1577 the village was sold together with Ritschka by Emperor Rudolf II and the document about it was deposited at the Kuttenberg Mint. In 1630 the clearing of the forests was completed, and the settlement of Stobnitz, which was later referred to as Stiebnitz , was established on the deforested areas in the valley . In the middle of the 17th century there was a division into the two villages of Groß and Klein Stiebnitz. In 1703 Leopold I. sold Ritschka and both Stiebnitz, including the forests, to Norbert von Kolowrat .

From 1850 the villages belonged to the Senftenberg district administration. Between 1935 and 1938, bunker lines for the Czechoslovak Wall were built on the ridge of the Eagle Mountains . After the Munich Agreement , the area was incorporated into the German Reich and belonged to the Grulich district from 1939 to 1945 . Groß Stiebnitz had 888 inhabitants in 1939, Klein Stiebnitz with Geiersgraben and Scheithau 260, Kunzendorf 307, Katscher 317 and Saufloß with Kohlau 240 inhabitants. Before the Second World War, a total of 2348 people, mostly Germans, lived in the corridors of the community. After the Second World War, the German residents were expelled . The vacant properties were handed over to Volhynientschechen , but they emigrated again.

Since the 1950s, the places developed more and more into holiday villages, and finally the municipalities Kunčina Ves, Kačerov, Souvlastní, Malá Zdobnice and Velká Zdobnice came together to form one municipality, which was named Zdobnice.

Today the place lives from tourism, and in Velká Zdobnice and Zdobnická Seč several ski lifts are operated in winter.
