Svídnice (German Schweidnitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located ten kilometers southwest of Rychnov nad Kněžnou and belongs to the Okres Rychnov nad Kněžnou .
geography
The place in the valley of the brook Vrbický potok is in the north of the Chotzener Tafel (Choceňská tabule) between the valleys of the rivers Wilde Adler and Brodec. To the northeast is the 444 m high Kastel hill . State road 316 between Choceň and Kostelec nad Orlicí runs through the village .
Neighboring towns are Dvůr Forberk in the north, Suchá Rybná in the northeast, Vrbice in the east, Chlínky and Krchleby in the southeast, Brumbárov in the south, Kozodry in the west and Koryta and Kostelecká Lhota in the northwest.
history
Svídnice probably already existed at the time of Kojata IV of Hrabischitz and was part of the Potštejn rule . The village was first mentioned in documents in 1342 by Čeněk and Ježek von Pottenstein, who held the place together with Lhotka for their mother.
In 1827 131 people lived in the village. In 1846 a new road to Choceň was built . The fire brigade was founded in 1881.
Together with the district Suchá Rybná, Svídnice had 420 inhabitants in 1929 who lived from agriculture. The 20th century saw a sharp decline in population as many residents earned their living in the cities and moved away.

The municipality Svídnice consists of the districts Suchá Rybná ( Ribnau ) and Svídnice ( Schweidnitz ).
